$20 million in funding available for regional events including major music, art, cultural, sport and agricultural events to boost event capacity and visitation to regional NSW.
The second round of the Regional Events Acceleration Fund from NSW Government offers a great opportunity to boost the capacity and visitation at key events across major food and beverage events, sports and lifestyle, major music, art, cultural and regionally significant agricultural field day events.
There are three funding streams, including major event accessibility and inclusion which offers important improvements such as wheelchair accessibility, changing facilities, camping and temporary accommodation facilities, alongside offering quiet spaces, and providing sensory focused performances to cater for neurodiverse audiences.
Overall, there’s up to $20 million in funding for events hosted in regional NSW between July 2022 and June 2023. Across the three streams of funding there are co-contribution requirements, which need to be factored into your event budget.
For existing events in areas which have been hard hit with natural disasters, the funding is a great opportunity to improve location facilities and encourage tourism back into your region. It also provides the opportunity to secure a marquee artist or performer to boost ticket sales. One of the key funding outcomes is to see longer visitation to the event’s region, and in turn bring more tourist dollars to surrounding businesses.
